End of Year Letter
Dear Parents / Guardians,
As we approach the end another successful academic year, I would like to thank the school community for its support, hard work, and commitment throughout the year. Our pupils have excelled academically, and in a wide range of sporting and cultural activities. Our warmest congratulations to each and every one.
This letter is also an opportunity to bid farewell to members of staff who are leaving at the end of the school year. Mrs Katherine Davies, the School’s Substantive Head, is leaving the School officially at the end of term. Mrs Davies’ contribution to the School’s development over the past fifteen years has been considerable. Mrs Davies has been seconded to work for Welsh Government since January 2017. A remarkable chapter in the School’s history comes to an end with Mrs Davies’ departure.
Miss Kate Evans, Miss Ria Evans, Miss Frances Morgan, and Mr Dyfan Tinnuche have been valued members off our classroom support team for the past year – they are all moving on to other employment or further studies.
Mrs Sioned Parry has already begun her extended maternity leave. Mrs Nia Williams (Geography) is moving to Ysgol y Preseli as Head of Geography after 3 years in Gŵyr, while Mr Gareth Jones (after 4 years), Dr Joseff Loft (after 2 years) and Mrs Paula Davies are leaving the Science Department. Mrs Catrin Shaw (English) is moving on as Head of English at Ysgol Caer Elen after a year in Gŵyr
We thank all our departing staff for their contribution to the life of Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr.
