16+ Open Evening : Wednesday 14th January 2015 : 6.00pm

Dear Pupils, Parents/Guardians,

I would like to extend a warm invitation to you to attend our 16+ Open Evening in the school hall on Wednesday 14th January 2015 at 6.00pm. During the evening, you will hear presentations on the wide range of courses offered through the Gŵyr / Bryn Tawe Sixth Form Partnership and in particular the opportunity available to all students to study for the Welsh Baccalaureate.

As you probably know, I’m sure, there is a long tradition of academic success associated with the Sixth Form at Gŵyr. In fact the school’s A level results continue to be with the best in the County and many of our students over the years have made successful Oxbridge applications and have been awarded scholarships for universities in Wales and beyond. In addition, there are numerous extra-curricular activities on offer which make the Sixth Form experience at the school second to none. A varied and interesting curriculum is being offered to the students of the Gŵyr/ Bryn Tawe Partnership with a very good range of academic and vocational courses. Students can select to do a variety of traditional academic A levels, Applied Vocational A levels as well as select from a range of BTEC courses.

Of course continuing to be educated in the Gŵyr Sixth Form through the medium of Welsh and in a Welsh speaking environment will enable students to continue to develop high level bilingual skills which are so important for the world of work.

For your information, a similar 16+ Open Evening will be held at Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe on Wednesday, 21st January 2015 at 6.00 p.m. if you are unable to attend the Open Evening here or if you wish to hear about subjects that are only offered in Bryn Tawe

We hope therefore to see you at Gŵyr on Wednesday evening, January 14th in order that we may share with you more information regarding the Gŵyr / Bryn Tawe Sixth Form provision.

Yours sincerely

Mrs K.J. Davies.
