Safeguarding at Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr

At Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr, safeguarding and the wellbeing of our pupils are an absolute priority and form an integral part of school life. Our policies and procedures are based on national guidance such as Keeping Learners Safe 2022 and the Wales Safeguarding Procedures, and are reviewed annually to ensure they remain current and effective. All staff receive regular training to recognise signs of abuse, neglect or harm, and to act quickly and responsibly whenever concerns arise.

The ethos of our school encourages pupils to feel safe, to speak up if they are worried, and to know they will always be listened to and supported. We work closely with families and support services to ensure the right help is provided for pupils and their families as early as possible.

The Designated Safeguarding Person (DSP) in the school is Mr Rhodri Evans (01792 977 104 / EvansR554@hwbcymru.net) and the Deputy DSP is Mrs Sara Thomas (01792 977 105 / ThomasS643@hwbcymru.net). Both are senior members of staff and well known to pupils, parents and carers as the main points of contact for any safeguarding concerns.

Through these arrangements we ensure that every pupil can learn and grow in a safe, supportive and trusting environment.
