New ALN System
The transition period from the old Special Educational Needs system to the new Additional Learning Needs Act 2018 and Tribunal for Wales has ended and everyone is now under the new system.
Under the new Act ALN can fall under 4 specific areas which are difficulties:
Cognition and Learning
Communication and Interaction
Emotional, Social and Behavioral Development
Physical and Sensory
Under the new act, there is a demand for an individual development plan if the learner’s needs are significantly lower than his peers and there is a need for provision that is seen as additional and that is also true if a learner has a disability, under the Equality Act 2010, which prevents him from having access to facilities in a mainstream school.
